Private Automotive Atelier
Inspection before intervention.
Luxury & Exotic Vehicles
Built for cars worth protecting.
David Hobbs applies a private atelier standard to exceptional vehicles: discreet review, controlled reflection light, and a suitability-first decision before a panel is touched.
- Luxury
Sedans and SUVs where the finish is part of the ownership experience — worked without disturbing a single factory layer.
- Exotic
Low-volume bodywork with unusual panel geometry and limited access, approached slowly and only where it is genuinely suitable.
- Performance
Tight body lines and crowned surfaces that show every imperfection in a reflection, read under moving light until they run straight.
- Collector
Original paint carries the history and the value. Preserving it is the entire purpose of the method.
- Fleet
Multiple vehicles after a single hail event, mapped and documented panel by panel for an orderly record.
Our Craft
Original is always elegant.
Paintless dent repair is a metalworking discipline, not a cosmetic one. Where the damage is suitable — the paint unbroken and the panel reachable — skilled access behind the dent and slow, controlled pressure return the metal to its original contour. Nothing is filled, sanded or resprayed, so the panel keeps the finish it left the factory with.
Not every dent qualifies. Sharp creases, stretched metal and cracked paint call for a different answer, and saying so honestly is part of the craft.
Preserve
The factory finish is the one layer that can never be recreated. Every approach is chosen to leave it untouched — access from behind the panel rather than across its surface.
Refine
Metal is moved in fractions, not strokes. Steady pressure against a mapped high-and-low reading walks the panel back toward the shape it was pressed into.
Verify
A repair is only finished when the reflection says so. Straight light lines across the panel are the measure — read again, adjusted, and read once more.
The Process
Four movements, one continuous reading of the panel.
- 01
Illuminate
A striped line board is placed across the panel. Under that light every low point breaks the reflection and becomes visible.
- 02
Map
Each impact is located, counted and marked, and access routes behind the panel are planned before a single tool is placed.
- 03
Lift
Working from behind, the metal is eased upward in small, measured pressures — the dent released rather than pushed out.
- 04
Finish
The panel is read again under moving light until the lines run straight and the surface reflects as one continuous curve.
Results
Proof in the reflection.
A panel tells the truth under moving light. These sequences show the same surface before and after the metal has been walked back into shape.

Specialty & Aviation Inquiries
Surfaces beyond the driveway.
Master Dent Lifters is exploring specialty surface-restoration opportunities for private aircraft and exceptional vehicles. Every aviation inquiry is reviewed individually to confirm scope, qualifications, access, and suitability before any work is represented or accepted.
Insurance
“A claim is a document. The clearer the record of the damage, the simpler every conversation that follows.”
- Hail damage is generally handled under comprehensive coverage rather than collision, though terms differ by policy and region.
- Insurers typically ask for photographs and a written estimate. Documenting each affected panel before repair keeps that record complete.
- Because paintless repair adds no filler or refinish work, the estimate is usually structured around panel count and dent density.
- Choice of repairer, deductible handling and coverage limits are set by your policy and insurer — always confirm them directly.
General information only. We hold no affiliation with any insurer and cannot determine what your policy covers.
Questions
Plainly answered.
- It is the reshaping of a panel from behind, using specialised access tools and controlled pressure, so the metal returns to its original contour without filler, sanding or repainting.
- That is the entire premise of the method. When the finish is unbroken and the damage suitable, the paint is never worked on — it simply travels back with the metal beneath it.
- No. Cracked or chipped paint, sharply stretched metal and some enclosed areas fall outside what paintless repair can do properly, and those cases are better identified early than discovered late.
- Hail leaves many shallow impacts across a broad surface. The technique is the same, but the work is mapped and counted dent by dent rather than approached as one repair.
- It does not. The three questions run entirely in your browser, nothing is submitted, and no personal information is requested at any point.
